Noni Noni, as my mom was affectionally known in the family passed away in Dec. 2006. She was much loved by anyone who knew her. She loved art and early in my life I was introduced to fine art through her collection. Always showing an appreciation for the work of an artist. While at first she didn't want me to persue art she turned into an avid supporter of my work. I will love and miss her always and the many special times we shared together. She was my mother and my friend.
It has been a year since Mom passed, just can't believe it. She is always on my mind!

THE COLLAGE ARTIST, fine art collage, something to see from an artist that works in this media. Collage is way more than just pasting papers or magazine cut outs on a support surface. It has to make sense. There should be the mark of the artist there. No matter if the work is in water color, oil, acylic, or collage there should be something that shows that a particular artist did this work. There must be some integrity of the work as well. The use of materials should show some mastery. Is this someone just making a small gluing project or do they know what they are doing? Does it look like they know what they are doing with the medium. Strong work will always stand on it's own. It can with stand scrutiny as it has strength in compostion, strength in the prescence of the artist, and strength in the mastery of the medium. If you can accomplish this as an artist then you will always be happy with the results.
THE WEBSITE With this website I hope to inspire other artists and provide some general information to the public about Fine Art Collage. As a signature member of the National Collage Society I want to show people that there can be more to collage than that project that one may have done back in elementary school. By following in the foot steps of Picasso, Braque, and people like Robert Motherwell we can produce outstanding Fine Art Collage in the 21st century as well. Collage is growing in leeps and bounds right now, especially in the techinical world. There are many new computer generated collages that are beautiful and wonderfully done. A whole new arena and catagory for judging in exhibits. In the Northwest there are some outstanding collage artists and the numbers keep on growing. Every year I have the opportunity to judge exhibits that include some of this new talent. If you are no familiar with Fine Art Collage, sometimes found in the mixed media section of some exhibits, be sure to look for it. It is both technically challenging, interesting to look at, and usually tells an interesting story. If you think of buying any ask if the artist used acid free materials. Very important in this media. If you are a collage artist then keep collaging! Enjoy!
